Advanced Treatments and Technologies at WMCHealth

Bone Marrow Transplants and Stem Cell Therapy

Each day, the Adult and Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program gains expertise, builds resources, and achieves breakthroughs treating cancer and blood disease. From bone marrow transplantation to stem cell and gene therapy, its specialized team blazes trails to pinpoint the cause, course of personalized treatment, and cure. The program remains the oldest and most active in the Hudson Valley. Its trusted care has been accredited by the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP) and the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).

WMCHealth neurosurgeons use a new technology that charts the brain’s neural networks during procedures to help them find the correct path for an optimal surgical outcome. Quicktome™ gathers information from a patient’s magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan to produce a real-time visual of neural networks for surgeons to reference as they operate, improving precision and reducing risk.

Minimally Invasive Procedures

Our use of robotic devices and other minimally invasive techniques means our patients experience faster recovery times, less pain, and minimized risks during surgeries and procedures. Our access to some of the latest technologies provides optimal outcomes for patients with heart disease, cancer, epilepsy, and orthopedic conditions.

Zap-X Radiosurgery for Brain Tumors

The ZAP-X system, renowned for its groundbreaking design, directs radio-surgical beams from thousands of potential unique angles and accurately focuses radiation on a target. With this innovative method, surgeons can precisely target brain tumors while avoiding critical structures like the brain stem, eyes, and optic nerves. It also reduces exposure to healthy brain tissue, safeguarding a patient’s brain function.

Robotic Surgeries

WMCHealth offers an extensive list of minimally invasive procedures in almost every department of medicine. We use robotic systems, like Da Vinci Surgical System, in fields including gynecology, thoracic, bariatric, urology, and colorectal.

Our use of the Mako system for joint replacements provides a precision that allows patients to use their new joints almost immediately.

TAVR

WMCHealth was the first facility in the region to offer transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for severe aortic stenosis and the only facility in the region offering transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) for moderate to severe mitral regurgitation. Our team of cardiac specialists provides cutting-edge and compassionate cardiovascular care.

We provide life-changing care every day. Here are some of the ways we’re improving our communities with innovative treatments and procedures.
