Westchester Medical Center Health Network Appoints Seigo Nishida, MD, PhD, as Chief of Adult and Pediatric Liver Transplantation

Westchester Medical Center Health Network welcomes transplant surgeon Seigo Nishida, MD, PhD, as Chief of Adult and Pediatric Liver Transplantation at Westchester Medical Center and Maria Fareri Children's Hospital and professor of Surgery at New York Medical College.

Dr. Nishida brings more than 20 years of experience in transplant surgery. He will direct the adult and pediatric liver transplant programs.

Dr. Nishida earned his medical degree and completed a residency at Kagoshima University Hospital in Japan. He completed his fellowship in multi-organ transplantation at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Prior to joining WMCHealth, Dr. Nishida worked at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami Transplant Institute, where he performed approximately 800 transplants during the course of his tenure.

Dr. Nishida's areas of expertise include liver, intestinal/multivisceral, kidney, pancreas, and multi-organ transplantation, hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) and hepatobiliary surgery.

A resident of Elmsford, Dr. Nishida enjoys reading books and listening to music in his leisure time. His research interests include liver, Intestinal and multivisceral transplantation.
