Showing Care On The Air: Radiothon Benefits Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital
Radio stations play records — and sometimes help break them. Such was the case with the 100.7 WHUD Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon, which raised $480,000 for Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, a Member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, including a $100,000 donation from WHUD, itself.
The 11th edition of the Radiothon—its most successful to date—took broadcasters and listeners into the lobby of the children’s hospital for the Hudson Valley and Fairfield County, with patients and families sharing their stories on-air.
Listeners called in over three days in November to pledge support for children facing open-heart surgery, brain surgery, organ transplants, cancer care and more.
“We are grateful for the incredible support shown to the hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Radiothon,” says Michael Gewitz, MD, Physician-in-Chief of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. “It is a wonderful demonstration by the community of confidence in the outstanding pediatric care provided to local children and their families.”
