Margaretville Hospital Program Receives National Recognition
As seen in the September/October 2019 issue of Advancing Care
The U.S. Office of Rural Health Policy recently honored Margaretville Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), for an innovative mental health program for local students.
The program combines in-person psychotherapy and video telepsychiatry in public schools at no cost to the students, their families or their schools. Launched in the Roxbury Central School District in 2017, the program now serves an estimated 200 students in the Andes, Downsville, Margaretville and Roxbury districts.
The Critical Access Hospital Recognition certificate — one of only four awarded in the entire United States — commends the hospital “for demonstrating innovation in the integration of behavioral or mental health initiatives.”
