Lung Cancer Screening Program Launches to Save Lives

Early detection of lung cancer helps patients breathe easier in more ways than one.

Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), and network affiliate MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie have launched a Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening Program on both campuses for high-risk patients — including smokers, people with a family history of the disease and those exposed to asbestos — to detect lung cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages.

“We want to emphasize to our patients that lung cancer is most curable when found in its earliest stages, and knowing your risk for the disease can help you identify it early,” said Anna Rozenshtein, MD, MPH, FACR, Director of Thoracic and Cardiac Imaging at Westchester Medical Center. With advanced Computed Tomography (CT) equipment, the program offers high-quality imaging with the lowest radiation dosage possible. Dedicated patient navigators guide the process and connect patients to WMCHealth resources for care and support.
