A Whole New Dimension in Breast Cancer Exams
Some breast cancers can be hard to detect. Fortunately, three facilities in the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) are offering a new way to find malignancies, fast. Westchester Medical Center’s Women’s Imaging Center at Advanced Imaging in Hawthorne, the Women’s Imaging Center at MidHudson Regional Hospital, in Poughkeepsie, and the Center for Breast Health at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Suffern, can now perform 3D mammograms. This state-of-the-art technology uses an X-ray arm to take breast images from many different angles, layer by layer, so that even dense, overlapping tissue can be closely examined. The results, according to one recent study, are dramatic: a more than 40 percent increase in the detection of breast cancer. To find out more, call Advanced Imaging at 914.493.2500, MidHudson Regional Hospital’s Women’s Imaging Center at 845.431.8776 or Good Samaritan Hospital’s Center for Breast Health at 1.866.596.8456.
