A Robotic-Arm Revolution at Good Samaritan Hospital

Posted By: Advancing Care

Believe it or not, a robot can help make some surgeries more personalized, and patients at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), are discovering this firsthand.

The hospital now offers robotic arm-assisted partial-knee and total-hip replacement procedures. This new approach enables physicians to create a 3D plan unique to each patient and then operate using a surgeon-controlled robotic arm. Studies show that robotic arm-assisted partial knee replacement is two to three times more accurate than its manually performed counterpart; for total hip replacement, robotic-arm assistance increases accuracy fourfold. Good Samaritan Hospital is proud to be the first hospital in Rockland and Orange Counties to offer this exciting option as part of its commitment to unparalleled care.
