Westchester Medical Center Surpasses Milestone of 500th Ablation
The Electrophysiology Program at Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), has surpassed its 500-procedure mark for the use of ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation, a common but serious condition of irregular heartbeat, or arrhythmia. As the only hospital in the lower Hudson Valley with the ability to perform AFib ablations, the team performs over 100 a year, allowing patients to resume their normal lives in less than a week.
“We are proud to achieve this milestone for our ablation program with an outstanding record of success and safety, and to celebrate the good health and improved quality of life that we can offer patients with atrial fibrillation in the program’s first five years,” says Sei Iwai, MD, Director of Electrophysiology at Westchester Medical Center.
