MidHudson Regional Hospital Addresses Opioid Epidemic, Renames Treatment Program

MidHudson Regional Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), hosted a conference to address the epidemic of opioid addiction in Dutchess County and the Hudson Valley. Clinicians, mental-health providers, substance-abuse practitioners and community leaders convened for critical training on screening, engaging and treating patients dealing with an addiction to opioids.

Following the conference, the hospital’s chemical-dependency treatment program was officially renamed the Kyle Goldberg Turning Point Program in honor of Kyle Goldberg, who died from a drug overdose in 2004 at the age of 22. The Kyle Goldberg Memorial Foundation was founded by his family to support young adults battling addiction, and the foundation partners with organizations like WMCHealth to further educate young adults and professionals about disease and treatment.

In January, Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, also a member of WMCHealth, hosted a similar conference; Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of WMCHealth, will host one later this year.
